Snowboard Helmets
A snowboard helmet is an extremely important part of your equipment and a requirement in some countries.We strongly recommend that you always wear a helmet when snowboarding.
With the mountains getting busier each year, a helmet is not just there to protect you when you fall over but also when someone crashes into you. Bearing in mind that most people average 30-40mph on piste and if there is an accident there is a possibility that you might be hit by either skis, poles or even a snowboard.
Each person’s head is a different shape and size and helmets vary from brand to model so we would advise trying them on to make sure you get the right fit. Even if you know the diameter of your head it does not mean that a helmet with that measurement will fit.
Your snowboard helmet must fit snug but not too tight. If it is too tight it will become uncomfortable by the end of the day. Your helmet should also not be too loose as this could cause more damage than good. A good fitting helmet should give you a 15-20mm gap from the top of your eyebrows to the start of helmet to allow your snowboard goggles to fit in properly. Ideally you should buy your helmet before you buy your goggles but if you already have goggles, take them into the store to find the most compatible fit.
