“Numeric” is the name given to this extra special 2011 Scion xB. 686® and Scion Racing® in collaboration with Spin Imaging® designed and built the world’s first and only car solely dedicated to Snowboarding. For 686’s twentieth anniversary, they teamed up to develop a one-of-a-kind custom winter masterpiece. Each element of the build was motivated by a product and brand that’s progressively pushed Skateboarding and Snowboarding to new levels.
The exterior is bundled head-to-toe in custom features, from the New Balance tires to the Bern carbon fiber helmet roof. The xB is completely wrapped in 686 waterproof/breathable fabric, with waterproof YKK zipper pockets and Dragon APX mirrored frameless windows.
The interior has no shortage of fun and functional sporting gear. The Union binding swivel seats, Freewaters heated floor mats and Cadence steering wheel wrap are only a few of the many mountain-ready features. 686 did plenty of their own custom creation with the gear hangers, snowboard rack, boot rack and roll cage all stuffed comfortably inside. To top it all off, Marc Mckee from Blind provided custom artwork to add some cozy inside the cabin.
“Numeric” will be on display November 1-4 at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. See the complete list of features below.

There are so many different “How To” articles on the internet but here at BBC MK we walk the walk and talk the talk so will only give you advice that we would follow ourselves. No BS . . . just the honest truth!
How to service a snowboard
File
Wax remover / board cleaner
Old cloth
First you need to de-bur the edges and check whether they need to be sharpened. By running your finger along the edge of the board, you will be able to feel if there are any burs (or metal) creating a rough edge. You will need an Oxide Stone to do this to ensure you smooth these out and do not blunt your edging file. This will also stop the edge from cutting up your clothes and, ultimately, give you a better holding edge on the mountain.
Start with your edging tool sharpen the base edge at one degree – this will give you a smoother ride when flat lining or on cat tracks. You then do the same on the side edge. If you are going to be hitting the park or want to jib a little then you can increase your edging tool to a three degree bevel. This will help get a more catch free feel to the edge but will still have a sharpness that will enable you to ride across the whole mountain.
Firstly, using your scraper you need to scrape any old wax and dirt off the base as you don’t want to be waxing that back into the pores of the base.
Using wax remover / base cleaner to really get a clean finish and pull any dirt and wax off the base you will need to use a clean cloth or kitchen towel and rub the base all over.
Make sure your iron is nice and hot. This will enable you to get the whole base and core of the board hot enough so the pores of the base open up and the wax can melt into them.
Hold the wax against the iron and dribble it as it melts up and down the base until you have enough to spread it evenly to cover the whole base. Don’t put too much wax on at once as when it cools you will only have more to scrape off! Remember you can always add more wax but you can’t take it off (well you can, but you’re just creating more work for yourself!).
Allow the wax to cool fully at room temperature (20-30 minutes) and when there there are no wet spots on the base it is ready to be scraped.
Using a plastic scraper (a metal scraper will only gouge the base), start scraping the wax off the board. You might need to sharpen the edges of the scraper before each use with a file – the sharper the scraper the easier it is to remove the wax.
Working from nose to tail scrape all the surface wax off the board. Any remaining wax will act like a brake and grip onto the snow. Always scrape nose to tail or tail to nose – never edge to edge as the structure of the base runs in this direction. It’s also a good idea to run the scraper around the side edge of the board just to remove any wax that may have run over the edges of the board.
Once all the excess wax has been scraped off its time to buff it up and put the structure back into the base using a structure brush. Again with ample force rub the base nose to tail or tail to nose to take the wax out of the structure lines of the base and remove all of those scraping marks until you get that polished finish.
You will know that you board is waxed properly when you drop some water onto the board and the water disperses and runs smoothly across the board. If the water creates a “puddle” you have not scraped the wax off properly.

You need for a complete skate deck the Board, Grip, Trucks, Hardware (Bolts to hold the truck to the deck), Risers (Optional) Wheels and Bearings.
There is plenty to choose from in each of these categories.
The difference between decks is mainly the width, starting at the thinnest 7.3 inches wide going up in stages up to around 8.25 inches wide for a regular skate deck.
The narrower the deck the easier it will be to do flip tricks and the wider it is the more stability you will get typically for ramp/ Vert skating a wider deck is preferred.
The shape of the nose and tail differs slightly from brand to brand and the length is also different ever so slightly, all of these differences will eventually come down to personal preference.
If you are below 4.5ft or 130cm tall your legs are generally to short for a full size deck. It would be advisable to use a mini or mid deck which come slightly shorter and narrower that the full size ones to help get those tricks down with less effort due to the deck weight being less.
Grip choice is up to the skater weather it be Black or coloured all skateboards require grip tape.
Trucks come in different heights from low, mid to high, this is the height the axle is away from the deck. We also have different trucks for more response and others for more grinding. The difference between the price of the truck is a good indication of how strong and light they are the more expensive the stronger or lighter they are. This again is will come down to the skater personal preference.
Hardware consists of eight nuts and bolts to fix the trucks to the deck and come in several different lengths starting at ¾ inch and 1 inch for regular truck to deck mounting then 1 & 1/4 inch for trucks and risers. They are either Allen key or Phillips head and come in various colours.
Wheels are made in different diameters starting at 49mm going up to 56mm for regular skateboarding. The smaller the wheel the better it will be for street skating as it accelerates quicker and the bigger the wheel the easier it will get over the coping so would be better for ramp work, again this is a personal preference choice. The higher end of the price range also tend to guarantee against flat spotting as they are making the wheels with harder polyurethane.
Bearings will be needed for all wheels as they do not come with them and the wheels will not work without the bearings. The general rule is that the higher price the bearing the smoother, quicker and longer it will run. We have sealed bearings which once they have become slow and clogged up with dirt need to be replace and we have non sealed which can be cleaned and re lubricated for longer lasting life. The higher the Abec rating the smoother and faster the bearing will run, we also have un rated bearings which would compare to an Abec 7 upwards.![skateboard[1]](http://www.bucksboarding.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/skateboard1.gif)
